About the Centre/Service

Join our much‑loved community kindergarten on the Elwood foreshore as an Early Childhood Teacher in a full‑time, 12‑month maternity leave contract. This is a special opportunity to join a warm, supportive team, build meaningful relationships with children and families, and contribute to a rich nature‑based program in a beautiful beachside setting. The role is a shared teaching role for an experienced, thoughtful teacher who values connection, collaboration, and meaningful learning. Lady Forster Kindergarten is a community kindergarten with more than 100 years of history, deep local connections, and a strong sense of belonging. Located on the Elwood foreshore, we have been rated ‘Exceeding’ in all seven National Quality Standards for more than a decade.

Work Days of the Role: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday

Hours of Work: Shifts between 8 am and 4 pm – varying through the week.

In this role, you will:

• create engaging, play‑based learning in natural environments
• listen to children’s ideas and use them to shape meaningful learning
• build warm, respectful relationships with children, families, and the community
• contribute to a reflective, collaborative team culture
• teach across beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces on the Elwood foreshore

What We’re Looking For:

• Nature‑Based Practice: Experience or strong interest in outdoor education, beach/bush kinder, sustainability, and play‑based learning.
• Inclusive Teaching: Ability to design responsive programs and support a range of learning needs.
• Active Supervision: Confidence supervising children safely in dynamic outdoor settings.
• Team Contribution: A calm, collaborative approach and the ability to positively contribute to team practice.

You’ll bring:

• At least 3 years’ experience delivering a high‑quality Early Childhood Teaching program.
• Approved Bachelor of Early Childhood Education and current VIT registration.
• Current First Aid, Mandatory Reporting, National Child Safety training, and WWC Check.
• Strong working knowledge of National Law, Regulations, EYLF, NQS, and Child Safe Standards.
• Excellent communication, organisation, and relationship‑building skills.

Desirable:

• Experience in nature‑based, beach, or bush kinder programs.
• Previous work in a highly rated community kindergarten service.
• Experience supporting inclusion in early childhood settings.
